Astrology 101 Foundation Course
Astrology 101 is taught by Leslie McGuirk using a teaching style that is engaging, playful, and easy to follow. Through metaphor, analogy, and real-life examples, Leslie guides students step by step in a way that feels natural rather than technical.
Across four live classes (two hours each), you’ll move from having little or no astrology experience to being able to understand and begin interpreting natal charts—your own, and those of the people around you.
Astrology is presented not as something to predict the future, but as a tool for living and understanding. Leslie often refers to it as the Language of Compassion—a way of seeing patterns with greater clarity and kindness.
Each class is recorded and saved in your private student library, so you can revisit the material anytime and learn at your own pace.

The Planets
- An astrological tour of the planets that make up our solar system, what they represent and how they influence us
- Introducing the astrological wheel, the ascendant and mid heaven, and the twelve houses
- The significance of the positioning of the planets in an astrological wheel

The Zodiac
- Introducing the characters that are the signs of the zodiac.
- Learning the symbols that represent the zodiac signs.
- The assignment of the four elements of Air, Earth, Fire and Water
- The pairing of planets with zodiac signs

The 12 Houses
- The meaning of the twelve astrological houses, how they are constructed and what they represent.
- Applying the knowledge gained in Weeks 1 and 2 to each house.
- An introduction to chart interpretation

- A deeper delve into the wisdom and knowledge acquired in Weeks 1, 2, and 3.

I'm Leslie McGuirk
I’ve been working with astrology for over 30 years as an astrologer, author, artist, and teacher. My work is focused on helping people understand their unique life patterns and how astrology can be used as a practical tool for living—not prediction.
I’m the author of The Power of Mercury (HarperCollins, 2016), which explores how astrology reveals each person’s distinct design and way of thinking. Over the years, my approach to astrology—what I often call the Language of Compassion—has been recognized by both the medical community and global thought leaders as a meaningful support for healing and self-understanding.
Before focusing fully on astrology, I worked extensively in creative fields, designing successful products in Japan and writing children’s books that have sold over two million copies worldwide. That creative background continues to shape how I teach—using metaphor, imagery, and lived experience to make astrology accessible and human.
Today, I teach astrology through my Wisdom Academy and at wellness retreats such as Rancho La Puerta and Red Mountain Spa. I also work with individuals, businesses, and teams, helping improve alignment, communication, and overall dynamics.
My work has been featured in outlets including Elle, Glamour, and People. At the heart of everything I do is the belief that astrology, when taught with care and clarity, can help people understand themselves—and each other—with greater compassion.
